How to Convert Movies and Videos to Any Format

This is a real quick guide for anyone interested in converting movies and videos to any format you want. You can then transfer a movie for example onto your PSP or mobile phone and watch it on the go. Or you can just use this tutorial to convert your videos etc. into a lighter or better format to increase or decrease print quality. You can also convert any video to audio mp3.

Average movie in a DVD is usually 4 GB in size. You can copy it to your computer or use any DVD riper software to do so. Many free DVD rippers are available on the internet which are freeware so browse them before you spend your money.

There are many video converters available on the internet but I haven’t come across any good freeware until now. The best paid and amazing converters which I have tested myself and are highly recommended are:

1.      Allok 3GP PSP MP4 iPod Video Converter
2.      Total Video Converter HD
3.      Wondershare Video Converter
4.      WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe

If you are converting for your phone, I recommend Total Video Converter as it has preset screen sizes for a whole lot of mobile devices like HTC, Nokia, Sony and many more. Plus it offers free trial version so you can test it before you buy and it handles most of the popular formats.

In my experience, Allok converts FLV format much better than T.V.C. and has other good features but on the other hand, T.V.C gives freedom of choosing your portable device for which you want to convert the movie and automatically sets the resolution etc of the movie that your device supports. E.g. Sony Ericsson K750i has screen resolution of 176x220 so if you select the output format and select the device to K750i in T.V.C. you will get a converted movie of 176x220 resolution. You can find out the resolution of your device easily on here
For example the screen resolution for my phone is

The size of a converted movie or video depends on the parameters you select before conversion e.g. resolution and video quality etc. The more the resolution and video quality, the larger will be its size.

Now transfer the file (or files) to your device and enjoy!

NOTE:

Using your portable device for long time continuously can decrease the battery timing so make sure that you have a spare battery or your charger handy.

Keep in mind that propagation of copyrighted materials may put you in legal dangers so look out for that and use on your own risk. You are basically free to convert anything that you created.

You may Google and find pirated copies of the above named software but remember that these software were not built in a day and are fruit of hard work of many software engineers so if you like it, buy it.
