A Pictorial Journey to Ahmadpur Sial, Jhang, Pakistan

A while back I had the opportunity to visit my ancestral village, Ahmadpur Sial, Jhang.
Let me give you a quick tour to this far-off place to gain an insight into its cultural heritage.
Click on the Images to enlarge them.

A minaret of the local Grand Mosque. The Eid Gaah.

The minaret of the Hindu Mandir from the bazaar.

The traditional homemade sweets at a shop.Extraordinarily tasty.

A pre-partition Mandir, (The Hindu Place of Worship)
As you can see, this historical asset is also not in good shape due to lack of attention.
Notice the detail in the workman ship
The writings in Hindi makes you wonder what they mean....

Looks like some political supporter even brought a ladder with him to plaster the poster of his political candidate on the Mandir`s wall.

After all these years, the stone pigeons/doves still stand on their platform structures

Shops have opened around the sides of the mandir

The inside of the building. Most probably the location where idols were placed.

The central government operated school of the village.
Apparently it also dates back to pre-partition era.
Many of my family members and relatives studied here through out or at some point in their lives.

A portrail of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The vast play ground for the students.

The main school building.

A 60`s style lamp post

A cycle parking.....?? Maybe...

Wow. This is dusty. Summer Break is surely harsh on the furniture. LOL

I wonder on which of these tables my family members sat.....
I wish i could travel back in time and see for my self. #BackToTheFuture

The main gate
The Bazar

I am not connected that much to this city. In fact, this was only the second time in my life that I ever visited, but still I could feel the pull, the attraction. I don't think I can explain this feeling. I spent hours on the street, looking at the old buildings, feeling like Ezio Auditore following the footsteps of Altiar. #AssassinsCreed

Well anyway, that's all for now. I really proved J.R.R. Tolkien right, didn't I ?
